SCHOOL IS IN SESSION

I’m so proud to be one of Jo Malone London’s ambassadors, representing London, and what a reason to finally head back home after month’s of being away! As part of being a Jo Malone London ambassador, my role is to get a better understanding of the brand’s DNA, roots and character, and if there’s any brand who knows how to send across a clear message, it’s Jo Malone London, and they do this perfectly through some of the most memorable experiences. For this event in London, which gathered all of the global Jo Malone London ambassadors,  we spent two days having an immersive experience, that I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

TEAM ROSES

The theme of this whole trip was ‘Back to School’ and what better way to kick off the start of a new term, than with the sorting of the houses. Over breakfast at the Jo Malone London townhouse, we were all presented with our ‘team’s and I was over the moon to be part of Team Roses, not only does it represent one of my favourite colours and florals, but it’s also one of my favourite Jo Malone London scents.

So from that moment on, it was #TeamRoses all the way.

FIELD TRIP

Our first day at school would start the following morning, and before that begun, we got ourselves geared up by adventuring on a field trip taking us all over London for mini excursions. Our first stop was Afternoon Tea, which was set-up beautifully, including delicious details such as Jo Malone London perfume bottle biscuits. Following on from this, we tested our luck at the Jo Malone London arcade before hopping into our branded taxis and ending up at the Sloane Street Store to do some Fragrance Combining, my combination was Red Roses and Peony and Blush Suede, and finally, we reached our final stop, The Albion, one of London’s oldest pubs, where we learned how to pull pints and sipped on bloody Mary’s.

LESSON 1: CANDLE MAKING

Jo Malone London really doesn’t leave any detail out. The townhouse was transformed into a (very chic) school for the day, including three different classrooms, a lunch room and lockers fully decked out with posters of heartthrobs.

My first lesson was learning how a Jo Malone London candle gets made, and it’s one of my favourite products the brand offers, so getting a snippet of the process and even trying my hand at packaging up a candle was such a treat. It’s extremely intricate work and I now burn my candles with a lot more respect for them than before.

One top tip, I can share with you, is before you light your candle, after it’s the previous burn, make sure the wick is cleaned, this will keep your flame at a good size and not burn through the wax too quickly. You should also avoid burning your candles for more than 4 hours at a time.

LESSON 2: RIBBON TYING

Lesson number 2, a class in ribbon tying, which I was so excited about, because everytime I purchase a beautifully wrapped Jo Malone London box, I’m too afraid to mess it up by opening it! The ribbons are always immaculately tied and learning how to do those pretty ribbons is a real skill when it comes to Christmas’s and birthdays.

After learning how to tie my ribbon, I gave a shot at customizing my box with stickers and a cou0ple of initial badges, if I do say so myself, pretty good job, no?

LESSON 3: FLOWER CROWNS

After lunch, it was time for the final class of the day, which was set in the most beautiful room, transformed into an English field, which looked and smelled sensational. It was a lesson in making a flower crown inspired by the Jo Malone London English Fields collection.

We played with wildflowers until we had our masterpieces ready for action, and our day couldn’t have ended on a more sensory stimulating note.
