Local Haunts: Mirzam Chocolate

Exploring Al Serkal Avenue

To continue my promise of bringing you more of Dubai’s local, independent haunts, I wanted to share Mirzam Chocolate. A chocolate maker based in of one of my favourite go-to places in Dubai, Al Serkal Avenue.

Al Serkal is always at the top mine and Reem’s list when we’re in the mood to really get away from the glitz of Dubai. It’s raw, innovative and so different to anywhere else you might find in the city. It’s also home to a number of local galleries which showcase artwork from both local and international artists, as well as the spot to hit up for healthy food concepts such as Wild & The Moon and Hapi.

During one of our stints, exploring the area to snap a few pictures, we stumbled upon Mirzam, a homegrown chocolate factory. From the outside, there’s no real indication as to what it is, and it was the branding which initially intrigued us. As soon as we entered and smelled the roasting cocoa beans, we knew we hit the jackpot.

We spent ages in there just perusing all of the different offerings, watching the makers in action as they mixed and cut the bars of chocolate and of course we couldn’t resist a freshly baked brownie. If you find yourself in the area, be sure to check it out, it’s so nice to see local brands create such lovely products, it makes supporting them all the easier.
