Just before fashion week, the amazing Emily Johnston of Fashion Foie Gras organised a photo shoot at the Net-a-Porter HQ for a handful of bloggers. We were all asked to style some of the trickiest trends for AW12, Statement Sweater, Leather Pants and Trans-seasonal Dress. It was such a fun day and I really enjoyed picking out my choices for each look. Everything I styled at the shoot is still available on Net-a-Porter and you can either hover over the tags in the images to be directed to the product or click on the highlighted links.
For my first brief, ‘Statement Sweater’, I paired a Paul & Joe Sister wool blend sweater with J Brand jeans and a pair of Versus ankle boots. I wanted to keep this look simple so kept the tones muted and let the sweater do all the talking. I love working with a statement piece, it’s easy to keep the look casual, mix up the pants for a skirt or even a skater dress to give the same piece a new look every time.
The second look was all about ‘Leather Pants’. I’m only 5″5 so it’s not the easiest look to pull off, taller girls look better in leather pants but this Acne pair was perfect! I love the off navy colour which really comes out when paired with this floral Elizabeth and James silk shirt. I wore a pair of McQ Alexander McQueen pumps which are in the perfect hue for Fall. I recently wore these pants with a super casual t-shirt and boots, it was nice to see how easily they could be dressed down too.
My favourite brief of the day had to be the ‘Trans-Seasonal dress’. I am really trying to get into wearing more dresses, I don’t know what it is but I always feel too dressed up in a dress. So for this look I really wanted to keep things simple. I chose a really great neoprene piece by T by Alexander Wang. I just love the silhouette and neoprene is a huge hit for AW12. To add a bit of fun to the look, I paired it with electric blue Nicholas Kirkwood boots and accessorised with an Emilo Pucci cuff. I can’t for the life of me remember the make of that amazing blue necklace I’m wearing. Sorry!
